The Audi R8 LMS Ultra is the replacement of the previous Audi R8 LMS and it is the racing car version of the regular Audi R8. It features an improved 5.2L FSI V10 engine which was improved by fitting new race-spec catalytic converters within the exhaust system, and optimising its cooling system. The aerodynamics were also changed with a new front and rear spoiler.
Overview
It is part of the R8 LMS-series which has been in production since 2009, designed for the FIA GT3 European Championship and other racing series. The Ultra was set into production in 2012, and came with new PS1 safety seats, updated transmission, and increased engine power.
The Audi R8 LMS also won the 2012 24 Hours of Nürburgring, which was also the first victory for Audi.
Asphalt 8: Airborne
The Audi R8 LMS Ultra was introduced in the Tenerife Update as a Mid-end B class car. The Audi R8's starting rank is 1284 (the same starting rank as the Volkswagen Golf Design Vision GTI) a max rank of 1473, and a max pro rank of 1595 (shared with Spada Codatronca TSS and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupé Final Edition).
The Audi R8 LMS Ultra features a very powerful nitro boost, which can be very beneficial if paired with a full nitro tank booster. However, while the handling stat is 1.270 - 1.320, this car handles poorly even when drifting, and while the nitro boost is very powerful, the duration is fairly short, although not the worst. Another thing to keep in mind is that the top speed of the LMS Ultra without nitro engaged is low, this means that you should try to keep boosting at all times.
The Audi R8 LMS Ultra costs 625,000 to buy, and 1,822,000 to max out. It also costs an additional 978,250 on Pro Kits. Due to this, there are more cars that are cheaper and some even quicker than this car; however, the Audi R8 LMS Ultra can be useful in multiplayer matches, but only on certain tracks, where there are not a lot of long straights or too many sharp turns. If tuned correctly, the Audi R8 LMS Ultra can rival cars such as the Mercedes-Benz Biome.
