This article is about the gameplay element. For the race mode, see Knockdown (Race Type).

A knockdown is a recurring gameplay element in the Asphalt series. It involves the use of force to violently wreck another racer and set them back in the race.

A knockdown is when the player attacks an opponent's vehicle and causes it to wreck. This is usually best done with nitro activated.

Knockdowns are the main focus of the Beat'em All, Catch, and Knockdown race modes.

Asphalt 8: Airborne

Knockdown Mode Info

Knockdown info as stated in Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Knockdowns become more vital than ever in winning a race in Asphalt 8: Airborne. Throughout the Career Mode, there are multiple bonus stars for a variable amount of Knockdowns performed during a race and for Knockdowns without Wreck (the number of Knockdowns achieved consecutively without wrecking). Both bonus star objectives also return as bonus objectives in Enduro Double Down, Championship, and Research & Development events.

There are various knockdown types:

  • Regular Knockdown: a simple knockdown. Can be achieved by ramming a racer from either the side or from behind.
  • Sandwich Knockdown: achieved by touching a racer and causing them to wreck by crashing into something, be it a traffic vehicle or a wall. (Doing a Sandwich Knockdown while drifting still counts as Drifting Knockdown)
  • Drifting Knockdown: achieved by knocking down a racer while drifting.
  • Air Knockdown: achieved by knocking down a racer while in the air.
  • Landing Knockdown: same as an Air Knockdown, except that the player must land on the target racer to knock them down.
  • Vertical Knockdown: achieved by knocking down a racer while hitting them from the side (e.g. T-boning them). This is sometimes very dangerous to execute, especially if the player T-bones a parked vehicle head-on from the side.
  • Spinning Knockdown: a knockdown while in the middle of a Flat Spin.
  • Barrel Knockdown: achieved by knocking down a racer while doing a Barrel Roll. This is the hardest one to achieve so far without wrecking.
  • Double Knockdown and Multiple Knockdown: knocking down two or more racers at once in a short period of time.
  • Leader Knockdown: knocking down the 1st-place racer. Very common in Versus races.

Knockdowns are the main focus of the Knockdown mode.

It is worth noting that Traffic Knockdowns are known as Traffic Down in-game. Therefore, they do not count as knockdowns because they do not involve AI racers, but AI traffic.

In Infected mode, knocking down uninfected racers while infected will add 10 seconds to your time (as they become infected in the process), while knocking down already infected racers adds 5 seconds instead (although this does not happen all the time).

Asphalt Nitro

Knockdowns work exactly the same as in Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Asphalt Xtreme

Knockdowns work a bit differently due to the presence of multiple vehicle types in the game. Larger vehicles like the Monster Trucks and Trucks are much harder to knock down, especially with a smaller vehicle. The difficulty of knocking down a certain vehicle depends on its size and the player's vehicle's size.

NOTE: This section only applies to Asphalt 8: Airborne and Asphalt Xtreme.
The chances of getting knocked down by other players depends on where on the starting line the player spawned on.

For Example: If player is in the front Of the starting line before the race starts, then their chances of being knocked down will increase by 50% wherelese players in the rear of the starting lines are less likely to be hit.

It is also possible to use another player's aggression against them during a race by either slowing down a bit in order to later knock them down through sheer speed with the use of nitro or by tricking them into ramming you near tight corners.
