Asphalt 8: Airborne
Summary
The SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI was added to the game during the Research & Development Update of late 2015.
The Impreza is a high-end Class D car, qualifying as the fourth fastest car in the class with maximum speed upgrades and a Tuning Kit applied. Speedwise, it is found behind the Mazda RX-8, nanoFlowcell QUANTINO and Buick Avista Concept, and in front of the 1967 Chevrolet Impala and Mazda 6, respectively. Although its nitro efficiency is only medium and it has a relatively large emphasis on nitro, the Impreza boasts the highest performance of any non-Elite + non-token car in Class D. However, this is not without a huge price in credits.
The Impreza has a base rank of 517, a MAX rank of 1070, and a MAX + PRO rank of 1354. The Impreza benefits from the third largest Tuning Kit boost in the game, at +90 ranks. However, the large PRO rank increase of +284 reduces much of the Multiplayer potential of the Impreza.
Performance
Although decent, the Impreza's acceleration statistic can be considered relatively low, given that many high-end cars of Class D feature exceptional rates of acceleration.
The Impreza also features a large nitro stat, but only a mediocre nitro efficiency of 8/13/18.
However, the Impreza's main advantage is a huge Tuning Kit bonus and a large total speed, due to the large nitro which it features (cars with larger nitro statistics feature higher total speeds for their ranks, within Class D).
The Impreza has a moderately high handling statistic but a relatively low drifting statistic, at least when compared to other Class D cars.
Usage
Time-Limited Events
The Impreza is not able to stand its ground as a Time-Limited Event car due to its absurdly high upgrade prices coupled up with inferior performance to the Mazda RX-8.
Other cars which are inferior to the Mazda RX-8, such as the nanoFlowcell QUANTINO and Donkervoort D8 GTO, see some usage in Multiplayer Time-Limited Events, as they have extreme acceleration and nitro efficiency statistics.
The Buick Avista Concept also holds the title of the highest-performing Elite or car in Class D, with the Impreza only coming in second place to this title. This further increases the Impreza's low usage in Time-Limited Events.
Multiplayer
On the other hand, the Impreza does have some usability in Multiplayer. Although it isn't a "king" at any rank-bracket in Multiplayer, the Impreza can easily be rated as the third best car within ranks below 800.
The best car within this bracket is a tie between the Ford F-150 and Renault DeZir, although the Ford F-150 is arguably superior to the Renault DeZir if the user runs an Extra Tank and avoids maps like Area 51 and Azure Coast.
The Ford F-150 has a total top speed that is at least 3 mph (5 km/h) faster than the Renault DeZir at many ranks. The Ford F-150 and Renault DeZir share a roughly equal top speed statistic, with the Ford F-150 having a slightly larger nitro statistic, while at a rank around 800. Below rank 700, the Ford F-150 has a much larger nitro statistic but a smaller top speed statistic.
Though the Renault DeZir is worse than the Ford F-150 in total top speed and is similar in raw top speed/acceleration/launch/handling/drifting, the Renault DeZir makes up for this with a very high nitro efficiency of 6/9/12, with the Ford F-150 only possessing a mediocre efficiency of 9/13/17, which does a poor job of keeping its nitro activated for the entire race (hence, why the Ford F-150 must be used on maps with frequent ramps).
The Impreza isn't as impressive as the Ford F-150 and Renault DeZir, both of which are superior speed-wise. The Ford F-150 possesses a ~7 mph (~10 km/h) higher speed and the Renault DeZir possesses a ~3 mph (~5 km/h) higher speed. The Impreza holds practically no advantage over either, other than its far superior base top speed statistic, which can be around 44 mph (70 km/h) faster; however, skillful Ford F-150 and Renault DeZir drivers will not allow themselves to run out of nitro. One should remember that the advantage of the Ford F-150 is total top speed, while the Renault DeZir's is nitro efficiency, and the Impreza's is raw top speed.
However, the Impreza outperforms the Camaro Z/28 in both speed and nitro duration (slightly). It also outperforms the Volkswagen Beetle Turbo in a similar way. The Impreza can also outperform the Porsche 959 if it avoids a rank of 850. The Impreza can easily outperform such cars as the Mazda 6, Range Rover Evoque Coupe HSE Dynamic, and Nissan Juke Nismo, at least at a rank around 800. The Impreza does have some small competition from the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, which is slightly slower but possesses a higher nitro efficiency (the Evoque has the same nitro efficiency of 5/10/15, but its speed is worse than the GLC Coupe at very low ranks, due the GLC Coupe having Elite-Tuning, which can enhance its speed further, by utilizing the Tuning Kit more effectively).
